I'm big in Japan: Kinkaku-ji (May 15)

Kinkaku-ji28 photos in full post

Next on the tour turned out to be one of my favorite spots near Kyoto, Kinkaku-ji, the "Golden Pavilion". The centerpiece of the large temple grounds is the opulent pavilion set in the middle of a large pond. Covered entirely in gold leaf, it is an impressive site, and the carefully cultivated gardens surrounding it make a for an gorgeous panorama. The garden also featured an impressive bonsai groomed to look like a ship. Rather than blather on, I'll let the photos do the talking.
