Decided to spend my Black Friday upgrading to Movable Type 4; so far, I like what I see though some of the new features don't seem to be working quite right at the moment. If you see anything odd, please let me know ASAP.
Spent a good portion of late last night and today hacking away at a few site related things. After some stress at work, I remembered why Javascript is still considered a pain in the ass to work with despite all the cool tools Google cranks out with it.
I follow various news and entertainment sites via their
RSS feeds. With the explosion of blogs, RSS has become important enough to warrant numerous reader applications. Until now, I have been using the
Sage extension for
Firefox. It is a simple, lightweight reader that met my news feeding needs.
That is until I gave
Google Reader a second look. Google Reader still has its quirks, but it has come a long way since I last checked it out. I've been using it for the past four days and uninstalled Sage as a result. The interface combines the simplicity of Sage with the ability to now access my feeds anywhere I can find a Javascript enabled browser.
I'd still recommend Sage in a heartbeat as a great RSS reader, but I can't see myself switching from Google Reader to it or anything else.
I've recently upgraded to the latest revision of
MoveableType. Everything appears to be fine, but please
e-mail me if you find anything broken.
DS4 is charged and tested; so far, no dead pixels or sound issues. I may finally have a winner here. The Braintree Best Buy finally had some in stock, and the clerk helping me was nice about the whole situation....
Third time was not a charm; blew my entire lunch hour hauling DS#2 to the Watertown store for another exchange. The sales clerk tried pushing the extended warranty; bah! I took DS#3 out of the store and checked it in...
I certainly hope the old adage is true; using the birthday money I received, I decided to treat myself to a shiny new DS Lite along with New Super Mario Brothers. Tax free day in Taxachusetts saved me a few bucks. Hooray for me! Or so I thought...
Behold my new blog... yeah, default templates are never pretty, but it will be improving over time. Basically, I've been running a
LiveJournal for roughly two years now, but I seldom update it. The LJ interface has never impressed me, but I was not ready to install and administer blog software on my own server. Until now...

For some time, I've been using
DVD Region+CSS Free on my various PCs to be able to watch my R2 DVDs. This handy little program circumvents DVD drive firmware checks of region codes, software player region code checks, and much more. Simply pop in the DVD and play.
Originally posted on LiveJournal Been an interesting week so far; work has been mellow for the most part. This was due partially to the fact that I worked from home on Wed. Amazing how much you can get done with...
Originally posted on LiveJournal Yep, broke down and split things into Firefox and Thunderbird on my home box today. Doubt I'll ever go back to using Mozilla for both; having separate applications for each task makes the inevitable crashes easier...
Decided to take the plunge on my work machine and dump Mozilla in favor of running FireFox and Thunderbird as my browser and mail client respectively. Both are based off the Mozilla development line but are focused on making the smallest tightest version of each one. I've been a long time user/fan of Mozilla primarily because of all the neat plug-ins/extensions being built. Making this split allowed me to find a few new ones along the way.
I happen to run a
little web site dedicated to Lupin III, and I am also working once again as a web developer. The latter finally brought out the itch I have had to overhaul the HTML on the Encyc to make it fully validated XHTML strict 1.0 and CSS. I started late Friday night and worked until roughly 10:45 this morning. Without warning, my SSH session warned me that the server was going down immediately. Hmm...
