Thanks for the links, GATSU! I love the firework one. It was created beautifully and synced well w/ the music. I wish there was a real firework show like that. It would be lovely to watch in real life!

IGN's top 25 Anime characters, courtesy of Japanator: http://www.japanator.com/ign-tells-us-who-the-top-25-most-popular-anime-characters-are-11923.phtml

Sadly, Lupin's number 15, while Spike from Cowboy Bebop is in the top 5.

The fact that he made it at all in IGN's an accomplishment in itself, considering they could've inserted characters from more recent shows. What you should really be pissed about is that that list is such a sausage-fest.

Definitely have some complaints with the list, but I like some of it. I'm glad Kenshin is ranked so high at number five, naturally. ;D

Cool to see Lupin on there of course, and Monkey D. Luffy, Vampire Hunter D, etc.

Hehe but true enough, it really is a bit of a sausage fest.

This is a GREAT find, GATSU! I love looking at model sheets for characters; especially if they're for something like Lupin. And, I knew about the MAD Magazine thing, but after looking at the illustrations it makes sense how the style of Lupin was influenced since I never really read MAD Magazine before.

In response with IGN, Japanator decided to conduct their own Top 25 Anime Characters poll: http://www.japanator.com/japanator-s-top-25-most-popular-anime-characters-12124.phtml

Lupin made the list... but see for yourself. :P

I'm so horribly offended Lupin is so low on the charts. >:(

I'm also extremely offended that they spelled Motoko Kusanagi's name wrong, as she is one of the best female characters in anime in my opinion. What the hell, 'Japanator'?!

Ever wondered what Lupin would look like in a 1930's cartoon character? Wonder no more: http://toonamir.blogspot.com/2008/07/best-lupin-episode.html

The artist also talks a little about Monkey Punch and the red jacket episode Miyazaki directed, Albatross: Wings of Death.

A couple of random YouTube finds that really made me smile:

The Dirty Harry "Are you feeling lucky, punk?" scene ... only it's actually ダーティハリー (the Japanese dub), so guess who's voice comes out of the mouth of (a shockingly young-looking) Clint Eastwood? Absolutely unmistakeable--to my ears, it's almost the same voice Yamada used for Lupin's little introductory speech over (some of the) Green Jacket openings.

Oh, and this song, and music video, is probably old news to those who keep up with J-Pop, but it was new to me, and I really dug what a loving homage it was, so here is "Lupin the Fire" by SEAMO:
