Maybe NTV, being partial rights-holder of Lupin the Third, will partner with TMS to have Madhouse do a TV special sometime down the line. Heck, maybe even the 2011 special?

As you can see, they have worked on a lot of shows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madhouse_(company)#Works Although, I'm not sure which of these are the majority of production or are production assistance, but they are well known for good quality animation. I can say that the few of these series that I have seen had pretty good animation. The question is, could they do Lupin justice on the tight budget the TV specials have? Let's hear your thoughts!

I noticed you mentioned in another thread that you heard that this years special was already in the works. As this absorbing of Madhouse is recent we probably wouldn't be seeing any joint works (if it ever happens) until 2012.

I'm honestly not very familiar with much on that wiki list (or anime for that matter) except for Satoshi Kon's work and Nana thus my opinion is probably worth moot.  :-[ However I honestly think the quality depends entirely on who's on staff. I watched an episode or two of Nana when I went back to Hong Kong a little while ago and TBH I thought the animation was pretty sketchy. The proportions were awful, but again this is on no part the fault of the actual production company but rather the artists. On the other hand Satoshi Kon's works were all pretty amazing (although budget and his prestige probably had a lot to do with that).

Looking at that list and going by the titles, a good chunk of them seem to be animated adaptions of manga titles. This in itself suggests (to me at least) that they might not have a very large original writing staff, so how that would affect the production of a Lupin special in Madhouse's hands is anyone's guess.

Madhouse has done it all, I'd of course be cool with them doing some Lupin. Trigun, X, Monster, Death Note, Captain Harlock Endless Odyssey, lots of movies like Ninja Scroll and Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, lotta good stuff coming through there.

LTT: Maybe they can spare Dezaki again, given that he's worked for both Madhouse and TMS.  8)

We know that Madhouse is an amazing company. I think even with a tight budget, they can work something. However my belief is that Lupin may take a more dark route with Madhouse. Something like the 1997 Special. I just feel that they may try and bring the more edgy feel of Lupin out to appeal more so to the general audience.
