Surprised they didn't release the Lupin VIII pilot already. Were the rights tied up with that European company? And that short was no doubt recorded before everyone announced their retirement.

Ha, if the screen shots on that website are form the OVA then it's cool to see the Green Jacket make an appearance again. It looks like the animation style from the recent TV Specials (prior to Eternal Mermaid.) I take it by old voice actors we're talking Goro Naya and co, here? I guess this animation was recorded before the decision to change then? All cool stuff none-the-less, would pick it up if I was in Japan / knew Japanese. =X

While discussing this with Ryan, he made a note that based on the screencaps, it looks like it could be an adaptation of the first Manga chapter from WMW. I would personally welcome that.

Doubtful. But you can purchase a Region Free DVD Player for like $35. That's what I did.

I'm pretty sure the issue with Lupin VIII was that they (the European production company, but not the Japanese) were using the Arsene Lupin name without permission. They were only half-authorized or something along those lines and paying the Leblanc Estate was beyond their budget - which is why production was halted. But now that the name has entered public domain, there's nothing preventing this pilot from being released.

So, it's to my understanding that the audio was either never recorded  for Lupin VIII or lost over time. So will this feature on the Master File be just the Video or will they Dub it? And if they Dub it, will they use different Seiyuu or the Main-5? And if they use the Main-5...Will it be the 2010 cast or the 2011?

So  many questions to be answered. Just 2 months away though!

I hope to GOD that it's region free.

Japan is in the same region as the US for Blu-ray; if you can play Blu-ray already, that's the release to pick up.

Speaking of which, Amazon Japan has it up for pre-order: http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%83%AB%E3%83%91%E3%83%B3%E4%B8%89%E4%B8%96-Master-File-Blu-ray-%E3%81%93%E3%81%A0%E3%81%BE%E5%85%BC%E5%97%A3/dp/B006Z4IE58/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327070167&sr=8-1

Reserved my copy already. Now for the waiting...

I can think of 4 possible scenarios:

-They will leave the material unrecorded. Meaning just the SFX+Music track version that's already been circulated among fans. This seems unlikely to me.
-They have recorded or will record a version with the pre-2011 cast for as close of a "classic" feel as possible. This is the most likely scenario IMO.
-They will record or have recorded a version with the 2011+ voice cast, simply because "they're the new regulars." This is semi-likely and certainly possible.
-There's a recording with the Yamada-era cast in the vaults that wasn't leaked along with the footage originally. This is the one I mostly just hope for, but am skeptical exists.

We don't know any answers right now and I have asked the usual source to see if he can dig up any info on this.

Did I mention I'm pretty excited to see this one? Good times ahead!

Cool! For the first time, I´m considering buying some Lupin DVD in Japanese...

EDIT: Confirmed, the new OVA is a 10-minute adaptation of the first New Lupin chapter; and Goro Naya will be present in it.

Source: Amazon and VAP.

EDIT 2: If you give me some time, I could translate the Amazon text, which is quite especific.

I can think of one more; they found a French dialogue track. Possible but improbable.
