Lupin the Third Part II TV series licensed by Discotek
« on: December 18, 2015, 07:58:42 pm »
MOD HIJACK by Reed:
Relevant details:
There's no proper HD master for PART II, only a rough upscale, so I think it would be an SD-BD if [a Blu-ray version] came out.

Will be released across several DVD sets, specifics not final. Odds are good there will be a splitting point where the Pioneer DVDs end, but nothing is certain yet.

Original Post:

Yes, red jacket has been confirmed as being scheduled for DVD by Discotek. Thanks to @LupinCentral for the tip.

Wondrous time for Lupin fans, if Part IV were to be streamed, than my life would be complete.

Fantastic! This is the best Christmas present I could have asked for! For the past half a year, I've been hoping to wake up to this news and that day is finally here.

I wonder if this may mean the rumors regarding even more PHUUZ dubbed episodes that Geneon never released is true.

It says that Episodes 80-155 will have improved subtitles, so I doubt it.

If nothing else, the subtitles will be improved. That doesn't mean no one's looking into the missing dubs rumor.

Going by the Discotek's past high quality releases, I would say we'll either get the Original R2J Release Master or the slightly altered one Geneon used.

Hey, everyone! I know I'm way too late in responding to this, but I was so excited to find out this Monday when I saw the article on ANN that I had to contain myself from screaming in front of relatives while I was out of town. lol! This truly made my end of the year! ^_^ After 11 years of being a fan (introduced by this very version as well), I and many others will finally be able to own ALL 2nd TV series episodes! Talk about a dream come true! :D

Oh heck yes, haven't visited the forums for a few months, only to return and see this.  I am super stoked for Part II to get the Discotek treatment.  I will definitely be purchasing these without a doubt.  I was thrilled years back to finally get to see Part I thanks to their DVD release of it, and now the series that got me into Lupin (Part II on Cartoon Network back when I was in college) will finally get a quality release to add to my collection.  Can't wait for this.

Reed just tweeted the first set is scheduled for December with the remaining three planned for next year.

Edit: Trailer shown at Otakon.

Edit 2: DT's tentative release date for the first set is now Dec. 20. Also, @jose_cnn says the Richard Epcar interview will be in the second set.
