Lupin Commentaries?
« on: January 05, 2018, 01:13:18 pm »
Happy new year everyone

I love the discotek Lupin DVD releases but I have noticed that the last few (except the Red Jacket collections) have not included any commentaries which is a shame as I have found ones from previous releases very informative and enjoyable

Is there anywhere else to find commentaries for the movies/tv specials? Has Reed or anyone else made their own which can be found here or online that can be played along with the DVD?

Would appreciate any help with this

I posted one from Green vs. Red online on YouTube. The audio quality wasn't DVD worthy or we would've included it. You can thank my internet choking both times.

That was actually the second take. The first one had sync issues so I just sampled some of the best bits and posted them here with contextual screencaps:

Bye Bye, Lady Liberty also had a second commentary by Ryan G. and Mike L. that I will post on the ol' website if i can get their permission.

As for why there aren't more commentaries, it's a time thing and an info thing. I can get plentiful info on the earlier Lupin works but I'd mostly just be rambling over other ones and I don't think that's of much value. So I just write up liner notes with the few things I know and call it good. Would you prefer a sparse commentary? For example, compare Fuma Conspiracy's relatively dense comments with Episode Zero's less focused approach.

I think people can get the references, but I have this feeling Babylon could use a good commentary.

Ah ok, I thought it might be a budgetary reason for the commentaries disappearing but am glad thats not the case

I agree with Gatsu, a commentary on Gold of Babylon would be very interesting given its oddball status in the franchise
