Lupin did badly, because there was no synergy on the part of all the companies which owned a piece of it, and because they tried to present it like a Scooby Doo wannabe, when people really wanted to see National Treasure.

Nicolas Cage needs to beat you over the head with a bat.  A lot...

mc: They clearly would have gone for Lupin if the emphasis was on the mystery, action, and adventure of the Nick Cage films, not disposable 70s pop culture.

I think I refute any argument that uses "synergy" like it has real meaning behind it.
