Had he been involved at all with the latest Lupin III material? And if so, how might this affect future Lupin III outings, or will other people continue to write/animate them?

I think he just handled approval, and was pretty much out of the game, other than for drawing as a hobby.

Edit: He’ll probably still get credit, a la Ian Fleming with the Bond films. And unlike with the Crayon Shinchan author’s passing, there won’t be a headache over ‘character development’ with Lupin.

I was trying to be careful not to come off as too callous (I don't wanna be the guy who focuses too much on not getting more entertainment vs caring about the life of the person making it), but that's actually kind of nice to hear in a way. That means that Lupin's firmly established itself as a series that's fairly open-ended enough and independent enough from its author that it can pretty much continue indefinitely.

A lot of franchises continue after the passing of their original creators; Lupin III is definitely going to continue, which is probably the best way to honor the memory of Monkey Punch.

Anyway, I guess this means you ‘cleared’ that DC Mamo Superfriends riff thing and that Lupin Superman movie parody and costume party. 8) https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-05-31/monkey-punch-2nd-produced-collaboration-image-is-aquaman/.147352

I heard a rumor that Di$ney squatted on Cagliostro for a while, until Streamline could get it. Or maybe it was tied up in that Cliff Hanger game. Who knows? I just hope TMS has properly registered Lupin in America, now, so we don't see any of those 60's Casino Royale-esque acquisitions of Lupin stories, too.
