Lupin CG anime movie.

Teaser vid, c/o sprak and @lupinthe3rdcom. Part of it reminded me of that 90's Canadian Arsene Lupin toon. I wonder if that was a ref. Since it's being marketed off Doraemon, though, it might end up being more 'family friendly' in the vein of Cagliostro than previous Lupins. Who knows?

It definitely looks more family friendly, but I doubt they are going to do a CG theatrical film and have Koike-level of violence in it.

I actually like the look of it. It would be a lie if I say I wasn't looking forward to this.

Since it’s CG, there might be more competition for it than Discotek. Wouldn’t be surprised if it got
Netflix’ed like Saint Seiya and Harlock.

Lupin has always had animation that evolved to fit the times. A CGI film for Lupin seems okay to do now, if not overdue.

While I prefer hand-drawn animation to CGI, I think this looked a decent effort. The only complaints I have are on Goemon and Fujiko looking rather weird.

Everything else is still around, which is nice: the same music, cast, etc. And it looks to be a straight-on Lupin caper/adventure, which should be fun!

Badly translated off the official site.
Quote
The long-awaited 3DCG Lupine the 3rd.
I saw a character or a story,
It looks like Lupine is full of new sensations,
I'm excited from now on just by imagining what kind of work it will be.
(October 2018)

Director ・ Screenplay: Takashi Yamazaki
When I was a kid, when I went to a relative's house in Yokohama for the first time, I first encountered the film of Lupine.
"What an adult-like animation. As expected it is urban city," and the strong impression remains.
I think that the work called Lupine The 3rd, which later created various masterpieces, was born from the strength and the depth of the overwhelming personality of Monkey Punch Sensei's original character.
It is a great pleasure to be added to the end of that lineage in a new format called 3DCG.
It is a pity that we have not seen the finished product by Monkey Punch, the pioneer who brought the digital environment into the world of manga.

Also, Ohno's tweeted about his usual involvement with the musical score.

Looks like it’s at least expanding to Italy. https://mobile.twitter.com/bolt7/status/1181144757504020480

Some damn sweet new threads for Lupin, Jigen and Goemon.

Lupin is wearing some sort of driving gear, for those who can't see it. It's because he loves classic cars.

Jigen looks nice, maybe more stylish than he prefers but he still looks great.

Goemon actually has a cool modernized suit.
