Does anyone think Lupin inspired certain games?

For example, the way Mario jumps and the clock-gear rooms for Castlevania are straight out of Cagliostro.

How about Sly Cooper: Master thief from a long line of rogues who is being chased all over the world by a police inspector?

I'm a big fan of Sly Cooper and have to agree with you. Esspecially considering this: In the first game there's alot of Bonus Commentary, and in one of them one of the commentators says then when creating Carmelita (the Cop chasing Sly for those that don't know) she was based off of Zenigata. It's hard to hear because due to legal issues when the guy said "She's based off of Zenigata from the Lupin III series", Zenigata & Lupin III are bleeped, but if you pay close attention you can infact make out what is said. You here the first and last sounds of each name.

There's a castle in Resident Evil 4 which pretty much uses the same ideas as Cagliostro. The cult-members dress like the count's men before the wedding; there's a clocktower; there're a few rooms where you have to have statuettes which look like the goat's head to open the door; and they even ripped off that trap door scene from the film. Of course, there are plenty of other movie references in the game, but you can tell that Mikami has seen the Miyazaki flick.

That was the series that first came to my mind. They do share some neat similarities.

He's Japanese. It comes with the territory.

Oh, and Yakuza has an older semi-clumsy detective with a troubled relationship with his daughter.

two words
Rolling . Thunder .

the main character in part 1 and 2 (can't remember 3 too well) both look really similar to lupin (in-game identical) , he even has a walther p-38 with a lupin like gunshot sound ... the girl in part 2 resembles fujiko and has the same gun as well !

then we get to the villians ... look a little fimiliar ? lol  ;D

fujiko ?

I was gonna find a pic on GIS to compliment this post but had some trouble finding a good sized one.

It looks an awful lot like Namco's Famicom game, "Lupin the Third: Pandora's Legacy."

Coincidence? I think not!

So in Phoenix Wright 3, there's a thief who leaves his calling card.  ;D
