I'm really not a specialist for all the Lupin's voice actors...
Here is an example of what I dislike with Lupin in Angel tactics: http://adeicirius.free.fr/lupin/lupin_angel_tactic.mp3
Little kid Lupin...

Ah, I think I remember this. This was when Lupin was having a hissy-fit, for lack of better word, over Goemon with his devotion to Zantetsuken. Afterwards, there was that whole plot device moment where Zantetsuken couldn't cut the Original Metal. :-\ Anyway, yeah... I don't much like his voice in this either. A little too high-pitched for me, overall. Still getting adjusted to Kurita.

It's funny... the voice, to me, doesn't seem to conjure the image of Lupin in my mind. I'd be somewhat intimidated if this came from his scrawny body. XD I think I'm just too familiar with Yamada, is all.
Lupin will look up and shout, "Save us, plot-device!", and I'll look down and whisper, "No".

It sounds like a food..I mean, I know it's not a food but it sounds like it. His voice was really good, though. ^__^ Thanks for posting the .mp3!

I can certainly understand both of your negative feelings for Kurita's Lupin when he gets very high like that. Especially since I am a huge Yamada fan. But I guess the reason I don't dislike when Kurita goes very high is because sometimes Lupin DOES act like a child. When he's throwing a hissy fit I find the high pitch Kurita does to be suited for the scene.

I can definitely hear that they were going for a very suave tone in his voice. Possibly due to France being the birth place of the original Arsene Lupin novels. But I can't imagine this voice being goofy and silly.

XD Are you ready for French Goemon? http://adeicirius.free.fr/lupin/goemon_S2.mp3
This voice I think is a very good feel for Goemon. It has the samurai feel to it. Very good choice here. Can you post some Jigen, Zenigata, & Fujiko audio too?

I agree; in this situation, and similar ones, this works best.

Hm... I think the solemnity's laid on a little thick and the manner of speaking therefore comes across as too affected. But that's just me.

I admit that often I dislike both the writting and the acting when it comes to describe him as a child.
I'm ok if it happens when he is into woman's hand, that's really him and his big priceless weakness, but for everything else, I think it's a bit out of characater. (Just my thought.)

XD A child isn't necessary sweet and innocent and vulnerable, though. Children are cruel, malicious, conniving, destructive..etc.

In my opinion, the most effective horror concepts deal with children. It's very disturbing if you're watching a kid, with a knife in his hand and bodies all around, and he's smiling---those people are bad--so I made them go away. Or something like that. Anyway...

IN regards to advantages of Lupin being childlike-- to quote the Geneon dub, "The key to it all is to have a child's mind." as Lupin non-chalantly drives on the ceiling to evade smashing into a pile of rocks and getting skewered on the spikes behind him. XD

Gozar:
Thanks for your comments concerning the French voices. Now it could be funny if I post the English ones in the French forum and ask them for their opinions too XD
My side, I don't have a lot of thought concerning voice acting. French voices for the old series are ok for me because I heard them in my childhood. But now that I watch everything in Japanese, any other language sounds strange with Lupin.

French Lupin's voice, silly tone> he can do it. I tryed to record a little exemple in the following Jigen and Lupin scene.

French Zenigata (named Lacogne) : http://adeicirius.free.fr/lupin/zenigata.mp3
French Fujiko (named Magalie) http://adeicirius.free.fr/lupin/fujiko.mp3
French Jigen and Lupin (in a funny scene), the first one is Jigen: http://adeicirius.free.fr/lupin/Jigen_Lupin.mp3
I think you should post the English Dub onto a French Forum. I'd be interested to hear what they think. As for the clips you posted here...I like Zenigata and Fujiko, I think they work well...Jigen sounded odd IMO...And you were right, I think that Lupin was able to sound goofy pretty well. Like of in the same way Kurita goes high and goofy.

(click to show/hide)

-Green jacket boxset
-Red jacket series on the 15 Geneon volumes, part 4 and 5 boxsets and the rest on copied dvd's which I negociated because part 6 got away on ebay!
-Secret Of Mamo
-Castle Of Cagliostro
-Pink jacket 2 boxsets
-Fuma Conspiracy
-Hemingway Papers
-2 First Haul boxsets (with The Secret of Twilight Gemini switched for a dvd with Japanese audio)
-Episode 0 : First Contact
-Return Of Pycal
-Operation: Return the Treasure!
I try to get all original copies but I also have Stolen Lupin, Seven Days Rhapsody, Green VS Red and Legend of the Gold of Babylon on burned dvd's.

This is the first time I see my collection displayed this way and man, this is crazy! All this in less than a year!  :P

(click to show/hide)

Some kawaii vampire doll I got before I even discovered the series, oddly enough, it turned out to look quite like Lupin! Remember that Lupin has been featured as a vampire at least twice! I called it Lenny and it's in charge of guarding my dvd's! ;D

I'll admit it, I'm pretty fricking proud of this! I got this from all over the world, which is very appropriated for Lupin III I think!  ;)

I guess it's time to show off my collection, now.
(click to show/hide)
The only theatrical movies I'm missing are Strange Psychokinetic Strategy and Golden Legend of Babylon, although I have rented the former.
I also used to have AnimEgo's Fuma subbed VHS, but it's been missing for years.

(click to show/hide)
Volume 1's been missing since I loaned it to a friend, whose brother found it and sold it.  :(

(click to show/hide)

I'm also quite proud of these:

Anyone know if any others exist?
