Lupin III: Lost Treasure Under the Sea
« on: April 15, 2009, 12:24:00 pm »
Every once and a while I see this game on eBay or Yahoo Auctions Japan : http://cgi.ebay.com/Lupin-the-3rd-Lost-Treasure-Nintendo-GameCube-GC-Japan_W0QQitemZ320360149716QQihZ011QQcategoryZ139973QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Is it just me... or is this a Cagliostro clone? ???

i've been looking for this game

This is a visual "Choose Your Own Adventure" game; make on-screen choices to determine where the story goes.

Thanks for the link to the official site! :)

I do remember seeing that game about 2 years ago. I was so upset that it didn't come to the US b/c I have a GameCube. Just like the other PS2 Lupin game that didn't make it to the US called, Lupin Dies, and Zenigata Falls in Love. T_T

Which is a crime, since it seems like the best Lupin game yet.

Since I'm the resident Cagliostro fan, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this!

I picked this up back when it came out.

Like most of the TV specials, there's infinitely more talking than action. There's a quick-action chase scene on...a bicycle where you have to react to Liana's call: "left" or "right". If you fail, it's pretty much game over. Of course, you can continue from the last save point.

Oh, I forgot to mention: you don't play as Lupin. You play as this kid named Teo (Tay-o? He's a Tay-ay-ay-O?) who meets this girl Liana who has a book about this artifact called a Kirimu which has something to do with merfolk or something. There's an extremely Count Cagliostro-esque villain whom Fujiko is serving under (using her Cagliostro outfit, except she keeps the brown hair) named Zai (or Xye, or however you'd transliterate that). Lupin stole one of these Kirimu (which looks like a decorative injection needle) in the opening cutscene and some big dude with a plan, semi-smile look on his face attacks Lupin and Jigen in the Fiat. This scene plays out not unlike the hotel getaway scene in Cagliostro.

Probably the worst parts about this game are how it limits your save points and how the opening credits are completely unskippable and really freaking boring.

Also, it's not in English. Someone on GameFAQs started a partial translation some years back, but it got to be such an old post that it was deleted some time ago. Sadly, I failed to back it up, but there wasn't much territory covered in it anyhow. There's also a strategy guide, so if you're stuck, picking that up might be worth a quick $20 on eBay. If you can decipher enough of the Japanese, that is.

How about we not provide links to sites that say how to copy GameCube games, shall we?
