Title: Lupin the Third Part II TV series licensed by Discotek

There's no proper HD master for PART II, only a rough upscale, so I think it would be an SD-BD if [a Blu-ray version] came out.

Will be released across several DVD sets, specifics not final. Odds are good there will be a splitting point where the Pioneer DVDs end, but nothing is certain yet.

Yes, red jacket has been confirmed (http://lupincentral.tumblr.com/post/135473950458/discotek-media-have-just-announced-that-they-will) as being scheduled for DVD by Discotek. Thanks to @LupinCentral for the tip.

Wondrous time for Lupin fans, if Part IV were to be streamed, than my life would be complete.

Fantastic! This is the best Christmas present I could have asked for! For the past half a year, I've been hoping to wake up to this news and that day is finally here.

I wonder if this may mean the rumors regarding even more PHUUZ dubbed episodes that Geneon never released is true.

It says that Episodes 80-155 will have improved subtitles, so I doubt it.

If nothing else, the subtitles will be improved. That doesn't mean no one's looking into the missing dubs rumor.

Going by the Discotek's past high quality releases, I would say we'll either get the Original R2J Release Master or the slightly altered one Geneon used.

Hey, everyone! I know I'm way too late in responding to this, but I was so excited to find out this Monday when I saw the article on ANN that I had to contain myself from screaming in front of relatives while I was out of town. lol! This truly made my end of the year! ^_^ After 11 years of being a fan (introduced by this very version as well), I and many others will finally be able to own ALL 2nd TV series episodes! Talk about a dream come true! :D

Oh heck yes, haven't visited the forums for a few months, only to return and see this.  I am super stoked for Part II to get the Discotek treatment.  I will definitely be purchasing these without a doubt.  I was thrilled years back to finally get to see Part I thanks to their DVD release of it, and now the series that got me into Lupin (Part II on Cartoon Network back when I was in college) will finally get a quality release to add to my collection.  Can't wait for this.

Reed just tweeted (https://twitter.com/Lupinthe3rdcom/status/764513807263670272) the first set is scheduled for December with the remaining three planned for next year.

Edit: Trailer (https://twitter.com/discotekmedia/status/764590946386186240) shown at Otakon.

Edit 2: DT's tentative release date for the first set is now Dec. 20. Also, @jose_cnn says the Richard Epcar interview will be in the second set.

I know it might be to early to ask this since the first set is still a month away, but do we know the schedule for sets 2-4? 3 months apart? 4 months apart?

I've watched a half dozen or so episodes (mostly ones with commentaries playing) and combed through the notes.

The video quality here is a big upgrade from the Pioneer/Geneon releases. For someone like me who has all of those, this was still worth buying for the improved video quality.

The commentary tracks are informative, but perhaps not as engaging as some of the commentaries on other Lupin releases.

My set just showed up today - havent had a chance yet to spin up any of the episodes, but at the very least I'm in love with the footprint savings on my anime shelf from pulling off the eight Pioneer/Geneon discs. Look at all that room for new anime! Discoteck is truely doing the lord's work!

I finished watching the set and greatly enjoyed every minute of it. It's fun to watch a bunch of episodes right after each other and see different animators' touch in how the characters look and move, and also how all over the place the writing can be. Fujiko and Zenigata sometimes take a complete 180 degree turn in personality between episodes. But I guess that's part of the fun of this franchise.

There hasn't been any word regarding when the next set is coming out, right?

If you're short on funds to even watch the show on Crunchyroll, then TMS is streaming the first dubbed episode here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJ_XYNJK3A8).

Tentative cover for the second set here (https://twitter.com/discotekmedia/status/896794643123372036). Preview of an Epcar interview for the second set here (https://twitter.com/discotekmedia/status/896783218254524416).

Volume 2 will go up to episode 79, it appears, which was the final episode Geneon released.

Not holding my breath by any means, but I still have a little pipe dream that DiscoTek might dub the remaining episodes with the original Part II/current Part IV cast. It seems highly unlikely, but stranger things have happened!

With how TMS is pushing lupin in the states right now I wouldn't be surprised at all.

If it's cheaper than dubbing that Aria Kickstarter, then maybe it could happen.

If you're still broke, it's now on Tubi (https://twitter.com/WTK/status/898364890041253888), which, IIRC, is free.

Edit: So Discotek has a tentative December street date for the next quarter of the series.

Yeah, this makes me think it may be a year between releases. It also tells me we're definitely not seeing Blue Jacket this year.

I'd expect collections 3-4 to be pumped out alot faster since there isn't a dub to QC.

Well, there's issues with the latter episodes which I pointed out, which I hope they listen to me on, for the sets. [One issue I e-mailed TMS on-for an expanded redub-but no dice, yet, it seems.] That, and I've suggested they Kickstart the dubs for the rest of the show which wasn't dubbed.

So it just occurred to me that the first box set of this series released in January of 2017, and the second set in December of '17 -- roughly a year apart, less one month -- and I feel like we knew by this point both times that the sets were on the way. This year, however, I don't believe there's been any word. I wonder what the release schedule looks like for box 3? It'll be the first set to move beyond the material originally released in the U.S. by Pioneer/Geneon, so maybe that's led to some unexpected delays?

Anyway, hopefully we'll hear something soon!

I was thinking the same thing the other day, I'm guessing that Gold of Babylon is filling in for the Dec/Jan release in lieu of collection 3 this year

My personal hope is that the delay is due to discotek deciding to dub the remaining episodes following the new dub for Babylon which will be ready for release in 2019 and 2020 for volume 4  ;D

^ I'm pretty sure its because they are working on Part IV subbed, just finished Babylon, and have Eternal Mermaid in the future. They have several projects that are pretty time-consuming. They've said many times before that dubbing the rest of the series would be way too much for them to do. (Although if that changes, great!)

Edit: Collection 3 has a release date of 1/29, you can preorder now at Rightstuf. https://www.rightstufanime.com/Lupin-The-3rd-Part-II-Collection-3-DVD

Discotek have now announced series 2 boxset 3 will be out on Jan 29th!

I posted all the info in a new thread

Sadly it doesnt look like they got the red jacket cast to dub the remaining episodes but I will still be picking this up  ;D

BTW, just so people don't confuse 'collection 4' with 'Part IV', maybe you should call it 'final' collection, or something?

Edit: And you could always crowdfund a dub for the Blu-Ray set.

Recorded panel got IP-blocked, and this thread (https://twitter.com/RussellLatshaw/status/1155519349777666048) is actually c/o WTK, and someone else, but final Lupin boxset in December. Hope you resolved those superhero things, plus, and not just the cost for that song. And yes, the Streamline dub is still on there. And yes, consider crowdfunding a new 'ghost' dub for the BD megaset and sell it as a pre-order, DBZ anniversary/LOGH-style.

Note: This part 4 is not to be confused with the recent 2015 show. Right Stuf calls ‘em ‘Collections’, not parts, so you’ll know when it’s in stock.
