Title: Sony buying out FUNimation for real this time. What will happen to Fujiko?
Post by: GATSU on July 31, 2017, 09:47:40 pm
Details here (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-07-31/sony-pictures-tv-to-acquire-majority-stake-in-funimation/.119575). Also, recent info on the forums notes that FUNi is somehow involved with the dissemination of the Blue Lupin dub. So, will Sony be further interested in that show beyond that? In other words, will we get at least a live-action Fujiko, like we just did with Atomic Blonde?

As much as I dislike Sony in recent times, as long as they don't screw up things I'm okay with this.

It's mentioned that they're just distributing anime. Nobody has said anything about adaptations or rights.

BTW, there's another reason Sony would want Fujiko. So they can steal elements of it from their Spidey spin-off, Black Cat (http://www.avclub.com/article/sony-sets-its-black-catsilver-sable-movie-2019-259383), without paying TMS. That and/or the Uncharted and/or Metal Gear Solid movies allegedly in the works.
