First announced on AnimeOnDVD.com, Discotek Media has acquired three Lupin titles to release in the US. Overall, they are planning to release a number of live-action Japanese films along with some anime films. Their first scheduled Lupin release will be the live-action film Strange Psychokinetic Strategy. They have stated that the release date is firm for 2006 February 21.
Their next two titles will be Legend of the Gold of Babylon and Fuma Conspiracy. Inquiries to AnimEigo have confirmed that they chose not to renew their license to the two titles. Discotek has acquired the recent remastered video used for the Japanese theatrical box set. No word on if the licensor has made any alterations to video or audio content as they have for the Geneon releases.
They also have access to AnimEigo's translation material (subtitle scripts, liner notes, etc.) though there is no indication if they will be using these materials, producing their own, or supplementing AnimEigo's material with their own. Babylon will be receiving a dub; they are currently shopping around for a studio. No word on what casting decisions have been made.
At the moment, their web site is pretty sparse, but it does have a trailer for the live-action film posted. They promise that a better looking web site will be available soon.
