Title: Lupin the Draw!
Post by: Fujikogirl23 on July 20, 2009, 02:59:46 pm
GEIST MD: Well, this here is the stickythread for everyone's assorted drawings and art-related work regarding Lupin, if only to cut down on some threads, and keep everything tidy. Happy drawing, guys!

And now, without further ado, the original poster herself:

Hey everyone!^^ Long time, no see. How's it going? (And, wow....have the boards changed a bit in design. I like it! lol.)

Sorry it's been a while, but I want to show you guys my latest pic of Fuj. What do you think? :)

Lovely! ^^ She reminds me of the '79 opening theme where Fujiiko is blonde and turning around--except that she has brown hair here. Also looks like the First Contact scene where she turns around, her hair waving in the wind, looking very wistful. : )

Thank you, SC!  :)

Also, I'm glad you pointed it out. The movement of the hair was, in fact, from First Contact!^^ I don't know what it is about that scene, but I think it's one of the best shots of Fujiko. As for the eyes, I changed them on my own. I wanted her to have that 2nd series look while kind of looking like the revised modern day version of Fuj. If I were one of those people making Lupin today, that's how I would draw the characters.

Mn, what stands out to me the most would be the vivid colouring - simple, but very effective. I do like this style of Fujiko myself; good work.

Excellent!  I can almost see Fuji-chan's hair moving before my eyes.  It's incredibly detailed without going overboard.  The eyes look spectacular.

Thanks, Dr. Furball.^^ Also, for the coloring, I used these high quality colored pencils called Prismacolor. They have a pastel-like feel to them, so they make the colors pop out a little. They're expensive, but worth it. I recommend it for anybody who draws.

And also, thanks for giving us the heads-up on this thread, Geist.

Howdy all!  This is my first ever fanart...well ever.  I've never been one to draw characters that aren't of my own creation but Lupin and Co. are just so dang gun charming I couldn't help myself.  This here's a cast roster of sorts for the RP currently go'n on.

I know it's posted in the RP OOC (http://www.lupinthethird.net/forums/index.php?topic=966.0) thread but I'll just put down a quick refresher here if you don't mind:

The Cast (http://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae183/Southern_Belle1987/CastWIP15.jpg)
Lupin The Third: Geist
Jigen Daisuke: MizDucky
Ishikawa Goemon: Ishikawa Goemon
Mine Fujiko: Lupin Lover
Koichi Zenigata: Angel Idol Linda
Kiichi Melon: Dr. Furball
Fu Cheung: Lady Lupin
Houjin Cheung: Lady Lupin
Adele LeBlanc: Southern Belle

Though I've already told you from what you shared with me, I have to say again that this fan-art is excellent, even more so as it's your very first. I was hoping to do an image of the cast myself, at some point, but I suffered a serious lack of motivation; in any case, I assure you this is probably better than how I would have done it. I just don't really have the focus for it, I think. The colouring, though simple, is nonetheless good, and the few anatomical issues (hands are always tricky, though) don't detract from the piece. You're inspiring me to get off my lazy butt and keep trying whenever I fail to get my ideas down on paper the way I see them in my mind. I'm sure the others will enjoy this.

Aw's yeah. That's so awesome. Now youre character reminds me of someone and I can't place who. Shoot. I WILL NEVER REMEMBER ARGH

Actually, heck, can we use those as official depictions of the guys? I wonder if anyone minds?

IG: Thank you very much, I know a few of the hands look wonky but I'll try harder on the next one!  I'm thinking about doing a few more of the group later, actually.  This fanart thing is kinda fun. >>

Geist: I wouldn't mind at all!

Ha, yeah. It's me again. Raisin' a ruckus.

Well, to be honest, it's not exactly how I've envisioned Goemon while I've been writing (and it would be kind of freaky if it was, quite frankly); of course, it's pretty impossible for anyone to crack my head open and wade through the gooey, gooey insides within to know precisely what I'm thinking. Now, to be sure that no one's getting the wrong idea, what I'm saying is NOT that I think this work is anything less than great, or better/worse than how I would have done it. It just means that I recognize that this is Southern Belle's spin on him, and that I also have my own idea of his appearance, to which I'm pretty accustomed. Little details, yes, but I dig it. :) I really don't mean to bum anyone out. Just giving my two cents Canadian (which is still inferior to American cents).

That said, I still think this is a good take on the characters overall.

Houjin is the son of Fu Cheung in the Lupin Roleplay we have going on a thread or two below this one. You should check out the story summary, I'm really pleased with our work.

LL: Aww yeah. Now there's two new awesome RP pics. IG, maybe you can help us out with your own fine talents?

Heh, very second season; I love the mingling colours with the night sky and the police siren light that gives Lupin and Fujiko a bit of an outline. There is some anatomical awkwardness like with Fujiko's hips being too slim, and her dress needing more shape around the thighs so it doesn't seem so skin-tight, but nonetheless, some nice fan-art you got here. :)

Sketchdump incoming~
I searched my current sketchpad for Lupin III pics and think these ones are quite okay to show.
I'm still kinda puzzled how to draw Lupin characters in my style, but making some progress, Hmm.

Sketchdumps are great fun to look through. I like how you've given your own distinct spin to them, and how you've pulled it off well; I know that I don't feel too confident departing far from the second season styles for the crew after some experimental sketches 'went wrong'. :D As for that Fujiko - I know I'm not being asked, but I'd go with the design of the bottom image if only because I dig that 'classic' hairstyle for her, and her face-shape reminds me vaguely of the manga. The pose above is fitting, though. :)

Thanks for sharing.

Sure, why not? I don't see it taking too long (more so if you have Photoshop), and it'd be neat to see the Lupin 'varieties' lined up. Crisp, cute art.

Thanks, Goemon! ^_^

Sadly, I don't have Photoshop even though I plan on getting it for my classes. Instead, I'm stuck w/ a cheap paint editing program called Acrosoft PhotoImpressions 0.5. I hope I end up w/ a Wacom tablet someday. Our school have drawings about almost every month for someone to win one. That'd be the luckiest day of my life! T^T

You're welcome. From what I can see, the program you've used doesn't seem all that cheap (in terms of quality), but you would know better. Out of curiosity, have you tried experimenting with OpenCanvas at some point? There's a free older version floating around the Internet.
Title: Re: Lupin the Draw!
Post by: Fujikogirl23 on October 30, 2009, 02:01:40 pm
To be honest, I never heard of it. I'm sorry. :(

The only programs I ever messed w/ were PhotoShop Elements (in high school), PhotoImpressions 0.5, and PhotoShop CS3 (in both high school and currently in college).

With the program I'm currently using for spare time, you don't have all those fancy tools you would have like in PhotoShop. All you can do is crop, fill in the pictures w/ a solid color, and the only few things they have that are neat is text design, make the pictures look dotted, sketchy, etc, and using the blur, burn, and magnet tool. And if you do use the magnet tool, it'll just cut out the bg, but it's not like you can make compressed images like photoshop were you drag the picture onto another image.

At least with the colors, I can use whatever capacity I choose which helps make certain colors lighter and/or darker than usual. Like, Lupin's skin color for example. I can easily add a little bit of white on it to make it lighter.

It just sucks that photoshop costs too much. -__- Idk. I guess I feel it's cheap in quality b/c I can't do more w/ the pictures than I can w/ photoshop after learning so much about how it works. Once again, I wish I knew how the OpenCanvas thing works so I could help you out.

Hm. Still doesn't seem too primitive - though I suppose I am saying this because I don't tend to use elaborate techniques in Photoshop.

Actually, I don't need help, but I appreciate the sentiment; I was just suggesting OC for you, so you could give it a spin if you felt like trying out a different Photoshop-alternative. It's a nice little program, and one can make good use of layers there too. As for that draw you mentioned in your previous post, I'll keep my fingers crossed. :) Peace.

Ah, I was slacking all weekend in making my comics. I was totally goofing off and drawing random stuff. This picture is a result of that--a 'promo' for my doujinshi. Lauren's an original character, and I don't think she'll even be romantically involved with anyone as she's a really minor character in general, but oh well. I don't like how she came out; I do like Jigen's outcome, though. :)

I stole a photo from Lupin's apartment~!
Nice!  Sums up their relationship pretty well.  I can't help but wonder who snapped the photo, though?

My turn!
A few weeks back, I decided to try drawing the cast of Lupin III in a style reminiscant of a modern American cartoon.
In particular, I tried to mimic the style of Sean Galloway, character designer for "The Spectacular Spider-Man".
Buuut, I had no reference pics, so it's no a perfect copy (nor was it intended to be)
(click to show/hide)
I think I like how Lupin, Goemon, and Zenigata turned out the best. Fujiko isn't sexy enough, though. I did have a different head for the G-Man, but it looked bad, so I copy-pasted a new head over it.

I apologize for the blue lines, but my 3 year-old cousin had found a blue marker and my sketchbook...
(By the way, in my mind, the jacket was red and the tie yellow)

You see my face, now?  : D

That's awesome! I like the shadowing, and the sunlight on the ocean surface is beautiful! ^^ You definitely captured the spirit of the show. Rebellious, free, vibrant, and not necessarily in an epic pose or anything--they're just being awesome doing their own things--Lupin staring off with something in sight, Fujiko pissed at the lost hoard, Goemon indifferent--and the least unscathed-- XD And is that Jigen's match in the foreground? And Zeni, as usual, is dripping wet. XD I like the blood, too! Very good job! : D

lol, yeah. Lupin's actually staring at Jigen, who's offering him the match--it was sort of a continuation of their little match scene from First Contact, and somehow everyone else got into the picture by the time I was done. XD

Wow - this thread's been pretty active the last week and a half. Good stuff! :)

Also, that's a cute, thoughtful gift, SB.

Edit: Heck, I will be joining in for a bit with something about 90% finished; I've spoiler-tagged it for blood. There's a story of frustration behind this one - but on the positive side, he's smiling!

Thank you kindly.  :-[

It takes some time, and a lot of silly doodling. I know it took me quite a while to get somewhat comfortable with drawing Goemon, and there's still a lot I feel I need to work on. But, like anything else, the more you do it, the better you'll get at it (or, you will discover what are your strengths and weaknesses are).

I might be able to draw with a pencil/mouse, but I can't do other artistic things well, such as sewing, making slightly complex crafts, or painting well. XD

Thanks! Here's more one for now, Lupin in a typical Japanese film scene. I'm a big fan of the film Rashômon so I thought I'd draw him as the great Toshiro Mifune's character, Tajômaru. Next off is the French film, Domicile Conjugal. My tribute to Lupin's origins.

Oh, nice! Can't wait to see it. That episode made me play Space Invaders like a goof for a good few days. XD

It actually isn't a reference to Goemon's Close Call so much as a vague nod to a scene in a roleplay, although there are details that don't match the situation exactly. But no big deal! :P Thank you!

Btw my geekiness reached new highs (or lows) when I bought a Space Invaders t-shirt! ::) It may very well be my favorite episode ever.

Hey, guys! I know it's been a while since I've posted any Lupin drawings, but I've been EXTREMELY busy with school and exams. Fortunately for me, I was able to draw this picture while I had some R&R last weekend. I admit, I should be drawing this guy more often, so that's what I'm going to do. More pictures of "Good Old Pops".  ;D

I might do one of those different facial reaction pages like I did when I was first drawing Fujiko at 14 years old (wow. can't believe I've been a fan for that long. lol) just to get used to drawing the character more without looking at any references. Hope you like!^^

it's quite traditional that every autumn in the Finnish DonaldDuck magazine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aku_Ankka) there's timetable from different DonaldDuck artist (examples Marco Rota, Carl Barks, Kari Korhonen, Don Rosa, Daan Jippes etc..).

Finnish, you say? (http://singalongducktales.ytmnd.com/)

(click to show/hide)

I have laughed SO HARD at this so many times, but yes, I know those aren't the "real lyrics." Man, I love DuckTales. And Uncle Scrooge comics aren't too bad either. I remember learning sometime late in my youth that the comics existed and they looked mighty old, but I thought it was SO awesome that there were MORE "DuckTales" stories out there! Unfortunately, I never pursued reading more of them until I was much older, but it was still pretty rad. I know another of our forum members owns (I think?) the complete Carl Barks Scrooge comic collection.

Sorry for borrowing the topic there.

Bwahhaha!! you're not only one who has laught so loud about hearing those misheardlyrics! :D ofcourse I have tried myself couple times sing with those lyrics and they go pretty well, but the original(Finnish which I have grown up with) wins all.... Jigen can hold his liquor but not his smokes? At least he's silly when he's high. Also your comic with your character(?) and him kissed made me squeal with glee. Loved it!

One DJ boy per picture I could definitely try. I'll see if I could do Fujiko but I'm not a fan of hers.  :D Trying to draw their personalities as DJs would be one hell of a challenge.

If anyone is on DeviantArt I have some stamps up of Goemon, Jigen, and Pops since there was either one single stamp or, in the case of poor Goemon, none at all! I only uploaded one of each today and you can watch me (hint hint  ;)) to see the other versions.

All of these are in my faves on DA. XD
I love your art style so much.
My favorites are still the cowboy one and the blue light one above it. :3
With the Simpsons one coming a very close third. :D

Your welcome. It does remind me of the style that MP used to draw or paint Lupin III realistically sorta like the style he used for DoA or the first half of the Pink Jacket series. Keep it up, Dude...

That motivated me to draw more!  ;)

That artwork style you mention ( DoA´s one ) is the one MP´s using since late 80s til nowadys. I prefer more the artwork he did back inthe 80s, at the time when SEXY Lupin III came out.

LOL, Chances are the stuff you saw on dA was mine, so it wouldn't surprise me that this design would look familiar to you. :P

But anyway, I don't have a lot written to this particular fic yet, so I don't yet have it posted anywhere.
I've got a lot of fics in the works based in this Gargoyles-crossover universe I've created, including a direct sequel to the one fic I have posted. :P

Some of this drawings are about a year old. this is mostly Lupin himself, sometimes with Zenigata or Jigen.

I've only done a few original drawings of Lupin.

The first one is a collage of scenes from "The Castle of Cagliostro." All of the scenes were drawn straight from memory, and the center image was an original concept:
(click to show/hide)

The second image is a cross-over image that I made mixing together my favorite Internet Reviewers from Thatguywiththeglasses.com with Lupin III. I picked each reviewer's role based upon different factors of current relationships, moral values, personality, and ideology.

Therefore, the roles are: Spoony is Lupin the 3rd. The AVGN (Angry Video Game Nerd) is Inspector Zenigata. The Nostalgia Critic is Jigen. Linkara of Atop the 4th Wall is Goemon. And The Nostalgia Chick is Fujiko. But now that I've grown to not like her so much, and plus my caricature of her is terrible, I think Marzgirl might fair better as Fujiko; to a certain degree. Anyway here's a link to the image

Amadys you've chosen quite challenging screenshots but I think you did really well :)

Tanx, Ol' Bean. It took me a few minutes really (10-16 mins). Your art reminds me of Monkey Punch's manga and anime styles mixed with Jhonen Vasquez style mixed with Tim Burton. This is why I would love u to help with the project, and see ur version of Lupin and Co..

You're welcome, Jolly. But, u can call me "Jay".  I'm also a fan of Vasquez (mostly his Johnny The Homicidal Maniac and Squee comics and Invader Zim), MP (his different cartoon-ish anime/manga styles and plots like his manga works in Mankatsu, Alice, and Lupin III), and Tim Burton (His movies, sketches, comics, and figures). I glad to hear that there are others that are fans of Vasquez, besides me and a few other people I know...

I like you're drawings Alvi, you really nailed MP's 70/80's style. I wonder if you could do some "kinetic" drawings to
see your characters move and act.  ;D

Anyhow, I finally did a Lupin III piece I really like. You will without any doubt recognise the lupin ( a modified copy of another drawing of mine).
I wanted to draw this Jigen for a long time and I finally managed to do it. I think they are one of the best duos of all manga history.  ;D

I'ts just a lineart but I'm working on a colored version right now. If someone wants to color it in it's own way, I'd really be happy.  :)
Don't forget giving me credits for the line though.  ;)

This afternoon while I was drawing, I came up with this. I didn't have enough space to finish it, but I couldn't stop! :)

So here it is! With fatal errors, as always!

(P.D.: forget about the errors made due to my clumpsiness with pens :S ).

Thank you for your nice comment, Jay! :D

I ( tried to ) fix a pair of things, and I have coloured it.

The hand is still terrible :S

Can you guess what Lupin is doing in the picture? :)

I didn't notice the hand. It still looks good. ;) Also Lupin is surfing or skating. Am I right? :)

You'd probably not noticed the hand because it didn't appear in the first photo, now that I noticed it :)

And yep! He's surfing/skating. I'd like to do a drawing with all the gang and Zenigata surfing, so this one will be a reference.

Again, thanks for your nice comment :D

That's a good idea Lunatic ! I'm currently drawing some premilinary sketches.  ;D

Thanx, Al. Sorry for all of the eraser marks. I drew dat back when I drew my pics with pencil too hard. I'm still am try to find a good way to color my work to make it look professional (using markers, sharpies, coloring pencils, pens, a computer program, etc.). Do u know how?

The amount of detail, the goofy/dirty underground style: in one word,

Thanx for da offer, RD. And yeah, I would love for u to color my art. I was using that art along with others for the Fan Anthology. Also as for the underground style, I got the style from Monkey Punch mangas. I going to upload a few more art like the Design for Monster Hunter III, a story paying tribute to MP later Lupin work like in the Pink Jacket series, World's Most Wanted (or Shin Lupin III), Dead Or Alive, SSJ3_Goku345's (or Al I like to call 'em) Lupin III art, and mainly a chapter in the first Lupin III manga series, Lupin Sucks. Also a few pulp-like magazines and the original Dracula novel by Bram Stoker (Lupin himself playing the role of Abraham Van Helsing).

Hey Jay, sorry for not having answered before. You can color with Photoshop, but I think that to color like RD and many others, you have to use a tablet.

Will can answer this better ;)

P.D.: I´m glad you mentioned me among those "MP Styled Works" :D

Title: Re: Lupin the Draw!
Post by: Red Dear on December 28, 2011, 07:18:52 pm
Glad it pleases you Jay and Alvi !  ;D

Actually, I'm not using any tablet (far too expensive).

I'm coloring everything with photoshop CS2. I'd really love to make a tutorial some day
but all the instructions are in french and I don't have a camera (I could make screen captions
but I don't know how to do it). Anyway, I'll find a way some day.

When I don't color on computer, I just use common color pencils. I'd really like to master painting
but it takes some time...

Good drawing Alvi, I assume you took the posture to a pixiv fanart I saw recently. I don't blame ya,
copy is the base of every artistic learning.  ;)

Good eye! Not totally (90%) the same pose but yes!! That was the base, assuming that we are talking about the same pic. :)

However, I was expecting that response from Justin. You just ruined it! :p

And wow, I must say. I must check out how you color without tablet, because I don't have freaking idea of how to do it via mouse!! ( Maybe you have to fill the spaces or something? ).

As for my coloring technique, it's the most simple I could think of. I use the pen tool on "produit" (I don't
know how you translate this in english, product, maybe ?)
so I can color the image without erasing the lines. That's the base. After that, I'd have to explain with more details...

So thanks again for your appreciation, I'll soon come back with some lupintic fanarts !  ;D

Please, don't anybody think that I was trying to make the whole thing mine, I only wanted to see if anybody ( Lunatic!, who passed me the link ), could see the resemblance. Actually, that came from RD, meaning that I managed to somewhat get the main pose.

Here it is. Presenting Arsene "Monster Hunter" Lupin III Character Design. And my own Lupin III/Herbert West: The Re-Animator based character, Herbert West III. I drew HW3 back in 2010 when I first started to draw anime again after I took a break. Herbert West III was the grandson of the original Herbert West from the original novella (yellow haired) and the son of the 1980's movie version (played by Jeffery Combs. Brown haired). He is a mercenary/mad-scientist for hire, and I made two characters based on Jigen/Herbert West's lab assistant from the original novella (i.e. The Narrator) and the Goemon-based character is a zombie/reanimated dead samurai that HW3 bring back to life. As for the stuff in the needle was HW3's own version of Lupin's signature, Walther P38. The green stuff in the needle brings the dead back to life.

Thanx. :) The first drawing of Herbert West III's head was a mixture between MP's anime and manga styles. The second one was based on MP's regular manga style. And the Monster Hunter III character design was based on ur style and MP's later Lupin III 80's style like in Dead Or Alive and WMW.  :)

Very cool mashups Jay ! I knew the existence of the Reanimator (good ol' horror B movie  ;D)
but I didn't know about Munster Hunter III. You take a little bit of every style and that's great !

Maybe you need to lighten some of your compositions. But who am I too talk !   ;)

I just loved your "Monster Hunter" piece with all the explanatory texts.  :)

You gave me that great idea of Mankatsu crossover and I did some sketches but I need to
have a definitive vision of what I'll do. So for the time being, I give you a little something I finished
today. It's just the second version of my Lupin&Jigen piece with a more "subtle" way of coloring:

I have a few Lupin fan works I've done. One which is based on a pic I saw and had to draw it myself. Looking back on it though I feel I made the Lupins in the back a bit to big or their heads to big.

Your drawing is good, well framed and I like the big eye.

Heres a very recent drawing (for once) showing Lupin III in his

by MP's late 60's style. I did it with a fixed pencil and thin color pens.

Gozar, the Jigen is for sale - or I can make one similar. I pencil sketch on the trading card, ink with micron and use prisma markers/pencils and copic markers for coloring. That's why I charge $10 for a baseball card-sized pirceof cardstock. It's still way cheaper than many other artists that use similar tools.

I think I've been inspired by the new series... I've been listening to my Yuji Ohno music a lot over the past week after not playing a single track for some time, and then today, while bored in a meeting at work, I started doodling to see if I remembered how to draw the Lupin characters, as I taught myself years ago, but haven't tried in a while.  This is what I came up with:

None of them are perfect, but I'd say they're not bad for going freehand with no reference.  I think my Lupin could probably use the most work.  Maybe I'll practice some more at home.

(I never learned how to draw Goemon, hence his absence.)

Thanks babe! I tried to make it feel like the new series considering how dark it is. Also, the color reminds me of raspberry sherbet. ^^

Here I tried mixing the new series' style with my own.

Excellent take on the new design. With their big heads, they loook a bit chibi.  ;D
Really good.  ;)

I jsut realised their heads turned out big because of the angle I took the pic at. I was using my droid to do this, so maybe I'll get around to taking another one the way its meant to be seen. I was wondering why their heads were so big.

Majinbulgeta: Not sure about Fujiko's face but I dig
your style a lot and your technical skills are really good.
That Jigen is pretty bad-ass indeed.  ;D

Redoodle: Interesting new way of drawing ! I like the expression
on Lupin's face; a mix of challenge, confidence and a bit edgy.  ;)

I too did some Lupintic works. Here's a little sample.

Thanks so much! Here's another work I just finished yesterday.

Completed in Prismacolor pencils on black construction paper on 12"x18" format.

For anyone who hasn't worked colored pencils on black paper before it's very different. I had fun experimenting with reds, yellows, oranges, blues and greens for the flesh tone which was rather tricky.
I actually took the photo of this inside because its been raining every day and it's too wet and windy to take photos outside. I love working in large formats and unfortunately, I don't have a scanner large enough to accommodate the pictures I make. Until then, this is the best I can do.

I have a few Lupin fan works I've done. One which is based on a pic I saw and had to draw it myself. Looking back on it though I feel I made the Lupins in the back a bit to big or their heads to big.

I did this one for my girlfriend who loves Lupin
(http://photos-d.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/s720x720/393502_10150431898243927_736788926_8739625_557649054_n.jpg)

And the last one

Oh and I almost forgot, this one was made with cels and consists of five layers. Fujiko front, Lupin behind, Zenigata and Jigen, and the airplane and Goemon in the back, with a printed background made with Flash.

I use Photoshop CS2 for my colored works. I still consider myself an amateur but I've been

This is the first of the series of Zenigata comics I've titled "Keibu". I have ideas for others on the way.

Oscar is featured in these as well. I write him in my own cannon (which is pretty much the Oscar we see in episode 4 of Fujiko Mine but exaggerated).

Drawn in Adobe Photoshop CS4 with tablet (as will all of them).

A new fanart I drew, scanned and colored just today.

My conviction is that Pink Jacket Lupin needs more love. Lupin
needs more love !

I decided to shade it in an "anime-ish" manner. The result gives Lupin
a sort of creepyness...  :o

Thank you for your appreciation !  ;D Indeed I like to try many styles.

Your new fanart is well executed too, with its cold morning light and a very sad situation. Reminds me
of a red jacket episode when everyone believes Lupin to be dead (some very moving scenes).

Speaking of different styles, here's a new piece I just finished to draw. It's only pencils on paper with a
bit of photoshop filters. I used a picture of mine as a reference. They are some anatomy mistakes I think
but well, here it is:

Well I finally finished it. I've been waiting to get this done for a while and unveil it here on the forums for all you Yuji Ohno lovers.  8)

This is my tribute to my favorite Musical Composer of all time. My description here on Deviantart will explain everything: http://filmmakerj.deviantart.com/art/Yuji-Ohno-The-Composer-of-my-Life-342761581

But in short; his music is the most beautiful and magical music I have ever heard in my life. It perfectly accentuates who I am and what I am all about. I listen to his music when I'm talking a walk, when I'm working on projects, every night when I go to sleep; He literally is the Composer of My Life. And so it was only fitting that I make this tribute to a great talent who has given a soul to a great anime series as well as helped ignite mine.  :)

I hope you all enjoy this piece, and I'm sure you can all guess the images I have referenced here.  ;)

This was a pic I had to do for my Animation class homework assignment at Jefferson State Community College. I had to draw one of my fav characters in a background that they would be found in. Since Lupin III and his gang (and Zeni) travel the world, I couldn't pick which place. So I decided to draw 3 places. I didn't finish it in class in time to show my teacher, so I decided to finish it when ever I had free time. Here's how it came out.

HAPPY 46TH BIRTHDAY, LUPIN III~!!!!

That's right, folks. Today marks the day that legendary anime gentleman thief and badass, Lupin III, was created on August 10, 1967 in Weekly Manga Action and over the years he's been in different manga appearances, games, anime series, OVAs, theatrical films, specials, music CDs, etc. stealing our hearts and righting wrongs for 46 years. Lupin III franchise has even paved the way for modern day anime and manga over the years such as Naruto, One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, and thousands more.

As u guys kno, I'm a huge fan of the Lupin III franchise and the other works by Lupin III creator, Kazuhiko Katō (AKA Monkey Punch). For this occasion, I've decided to make this caricature of Monkey Punch himself in his MAD Magazine/Playboy manga/anime style with his Monkey mascot and little furball with feet as seen in Many of MP's mangas such as Lupin III~Chapter 91: King Of The Cave of the first manga series and artworks on top of Monkey Punch's beret hat, which u can't see due to me shading it in too dark. Me and RedDear r both working on a art collaboration for this event.

I was inspired by a faceless caricature of Monkey Punch (using a over-sized sketch pad covering his face) that he made in Chapter 14 of the first manga series- Interview With a Lupin (Lupin III: Behind the Manga)(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q95O_nxFbbE&safe=active & http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXLBEUQbGKg&safe=active), or the battered and beaten version of him from Chapter 48 of the first original manga series-"The Dream Sequence", or the caricature used of him from Lupin and Zenigata's very first appearance in Chapter 1 of the original manga- "Art of the Entrance" (or "The Arrest Of Lupin The Third), the same MP caricature that was reused in Mankatsu)(http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdimoater01rl8q4fo1_400.png & http://i2.pixiv.net/img46/img/02kisaragi/19153265.jpg & http://i2.pixiv.net/img46/img/02kisaragi/27501163.jpg & http://i2.pixiv.net/img100/img/5296-3150/27539468.jpg.). I used the pics and vids as references for this pic along with this reference from The Woman Called Fujiko Mine (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KXktE7N9lpI/T8NdbCY0bhI/AAAAAAAAbJQ/Egf5B5n9q7M/s1600/x04+Monkey+Delivery+Service.jpg) to draw this pic. I basically combined different caricatures of MP including this photo: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6218/6996894133_cd50a1c81e_z.jpg

Keep an eye out for the art collab with me and RedDear coming soon along with some new separate pieces from us based around the Lupin III franchise.

Monkey Punch Manga-esque Lupin III Doodles

My Random Freehanded, Ink Drawn Monkey Punch-styled Lupin III Sketches I Did Out Of Boredom At A Program I Had To Go To Relating To My Summer Job Program. I Knew There Was A Reason Y I Was Making Lupin III Related Artwork Lately Even Though I Didn't Kno (Or Forgot) It Was The Anniversary. Since Monkey Punch Never Gave The Furballs With Feet An Official Name. I Sorta Based The Artwork From The Original Monkey Punch Manga Series And The Woman Called Fujiko Mine Character Designs, But I actually Drew These Off The Top Of My Head. So, Me and A Friend Of Mine Called These Little Creatures Dudles. The Joke Of The Name Was Because Monkey Punch Would Make Doodles Of These Little Guys In Some Of This Mangas And Artwork Hes Made Over The Years. (Lol)> XD

I wanted to make it look similar to Monkey Punch's later Lupin manga styled designs. I might draw Jigen, Fujiko, Melon Cop, Oscar, Lupin's pet dalmatian, Lupin Jr., his female partner, Sherlock Jr., and the dudles (the little furry creatures with big feet that MP doodled in his mangas and artwork I gave a unoffical name to) on a few more pages in manga styled also. I sorta don't like the way I drew Goemon's face and I think I added too many X's on his gi.

Any thoughts?

These were a few doodles of Lupin and his family (including Zenigata) from their first separate appearances from the manga I made one day when I got bored in two of my classes back at college. For some reason, that idea had been struck in my head all that week and I'm really glad I drew it all down. Originally, I was trying to practice on how to draw Goemon from the manga and his first appearance in the Lupin III first manga series chapter, Master Goemon (Aka Appearance Of Goemon) (Chapter 28), but then I started to draw Jigen  from his first appearance in the first series manga, The Hand Is Quicker Than The Spy (Aka Magician) (Chapter 7), which also marked the very very appearance of Lupin III villain, Pycal The Magician, who also appeared in episode 2 the first series anime (Green Jacket series), the Man They Call Magician, and years later, was featured in the Lupin III anime 30th anniversary OVA, The Return Of The Magician. Soon after I drew those I just drew Lupin (yes, Lupin had a "Popeye" chin in the first few chapters of the original first manga series) and Zenigata from their first appearance together in the manga, The Arrest Of Lupin III (Aka Art Of Enterance) (Chapter 1). Then I just drew Lupin's Dalmatian (first appearance in Chapter 30: Crime Doesn't Weigh) there just for kicks because, for some reason, I really loved that dog. It was so much like Lupin in every way kinda like Shaggy and Scooby. Then, I got home and just drew Fujiko too (It was about time I practiced drawing her) from her first appearance, Chapter 3: Mystery Woman (and, if ur going my manga wise "everywoman" Fujiko (meaning that Monkey Punch actually named all of the sexy, perfect breasted women who appeared in the manga, Fujiko Mine, because he didn't really feel like naming them and changing their design every time), Chapter 1 as a pair of rich twins). I love how the characters came out actually especially Fujiko (considering I felt like I messed her up last time I drew her: insaneasylum123.deviantart.com

This was a piece I made when I was trying to draw Lieutenant Oscar from Lupin III: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna (Lupin The Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine) in the form of the show's origin and main influence, the first series manga. If u guys haven't noticed in the piece, I actually gave Oscar sideburns like Goemon from the manga because, during the 60's and 70's, sideburn was a really popular style and MP drew most of his male characters with sideburns during the time as in contrast to the bangs or locks used in the anime designs of his characters like what they did with Goemon's hair style. While I was practicing how to draw manga Oscar and drawing a few of his manga-esque facial expressions, I thought to myself, "what if Woman Called Fujiko Mine was made into a manga back when the original first manga series between 1967 and 1971 (a few years after the first manga ended and Lupin III: New Adventures (Rupan Sansei Shin Bōken) begun) and it only starred a different male lead instead of Lupin or even Fujiko herself (since in the manga, Fujiko was a named that classified different sexy women that Lupin ran into, fell in love with, worked with, had sex with (forced or willing), flirted with, and back stabbed him in the Lupin III manga series)"? So, after that I just drew up this pic. Soon, after that completely done with drawing Oscar and the logo, I drew Zenigata in a heart since Zeni was Oscar's superior, father figure, and even his main love interest in the series. I figured what if Oscar was Lupin III's very first openly gay character in the franchise and MP sneak in a few homo erotic innuendos in this "series". I drew "Fujiko" in a skull and crossbones because Oscar always hated her and was somewhat jealous of the "pig woman" or the "spittoon Lady", and the fact that she was the most dangerous femme fatale in the Lupin III franchise. The name "Oscar The Vengeful" was actually inspired from Red Dear after we had a convo on Skype chat about a two or three parter Lupin III fan manga, which might be featured in the Lupin III fancomic anthology (that's still in development), and the title he said for pat two was "The Quest Of Oscar The Vengeful". This piece and the story behind it won't be involved with the two or three parter fancomic in the anthology. But, the real story arc will be about what happened to Oscar after the events of the 4th series to do the fans of Oscar and the show some justice. The manga will have a very special guest appearance of a somewhat forgotten Lupin III character that perused Lupin even before Zenigata ever did and later got partnered up with Zenigata to catch Lupin years later. The three parter series is basically a epilogue after the 4th series and a prologue of the Lupin III second (or third manga series), Shin Lupin III (Aka Lupin III: World's Most Wanted), and it pays homage to the Lupin III both anime and manga franchise.

Note: In the "series", Lupin and Jigen already meets Goemon from his first appearance in the first manga series and also the letter spelled out in Lupin's smile logo is Lupin and the shadowing under the bottom lip is spelled out, "III". It's all spelled out, "Lupin III Presents", all together.

The plot of the manga would be about Oscar trying to uncover his origin and get revenge on a cult that worshiped the Cahuilla Indian god of death, Muut, who was represented as an owl, that stole him from his parents and tortured him in his past and take them down once and for all, which was also y he joined the ICPO and got assigned to Inspector Zenigata as his partner. Oscar would travel the world with Zenigata to try to right wrongs and to hand out swift and strict justice while on the tail of Lupin and the gang. But, while on his globe trotting adventures, Oscar puts the pieces of his past together and takes down different operatives and members of the owl cult that took his life and his childhood away from him until he finds the source of all the cult's owl in the underworld of Southern California.

I probably imagine Monkey Punch crossing over this series with the Lupin III manga series like how he did in Pandora (パンドラ). In Chapter 90 of the first series, Cue The Trouble, Its mentioned that the Lupin Empire has a deadly rivalry with the Pandora Clan and the "Fujiko" in that story was a member of the clan like the main character in from that manga.

Anyway, back to the piece, I imagined this would have more slapstick and sex humor in it even though it has a dark tone like the Lupin manga series (possibly more controversial and darker considering its themes).

I hope to make more artwork based around more of Monkey Punch's characters or around my Oscar The Vengeful 70's spinoff idea. I'll post up the two interior covers of the fan soundtrack, Punch The Monkey 2.0: The Stolen Mixes later

Here r the three uncolored interior covers to the soundtrack. They all actually connect to make a picture of Lupin Jr. and his female partner, who's holding on to him for dear life, chasing the dudles (the little furry creatures that Monkey Punch doodled in his mangas and artwork) while using Lupin's dalmatian from the first manga series as a hunting dog. XD Red Dear is going to edit the pic by coloring it (of course), To connect the pages for the cover is to line up the rope from the cord that Lupin Jr. is holding on to, connect it, and extending it depending how long the case is. Then, shriek the dalmatian to a normal dalmatian size compared to Lupin Jr. and the dudles, lift Lupin Jr. off the ground a bit because he's using a rocket powered skateboard, add a shadow under the dalmatian, who's actually jumping after the dudles. The dudles r basically on good ground level compared to Lupin Jr. and the dalmatian's designs. Me and RD r planning on using these designs (and adding a forth page of Sherlock Jr. from the Lupin Jr. manga chasing them all on motorcycle seat) later for the first volume of the Lupin III fancomic anthology and also a story behind these pics if the soundtrack becomes a big hit and we have more time for more projects.

I wanted to actually pay homage to MP's original manga series including the "lost" Lupin Jr. two volume manga series and the recurring villains and other character featured in the manga and anime. The front cover of the soundtrack will also feature characters such as Melon Cop (World's Most Wanted aka Shin Lupin III manga and the female version of him was featured in Lupin III: Part II episode, Revenge Of Le Nerd or Lady Detective Melon), Oscar (The Woman Called Fujiko Mine), Rasputin (New Adventures Of Lupin III manga), and Pycal (Lupin III original first manga series, episode 2 of Lupin III: Part I (Green Jacket series), The Man They Call Magician, and the Lupin III anniversary OVA, Return Of The Magician).

Keep an eye out for more on the soundtrack and the upcoming cover designs for it.

Lupin III:

He Appears Like An Angel, Disappears Like A Demon

These r different versions of a promo piece for the fancomic anthology. The piece is paying homage to the surreal and dark moments and stories in the original manga first series, Secret Of Mamo, and the lost fantasy/horror style of Mamoru Oshii's Lupin III (ルパン三世 完結篇) (see original artwork here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.575114602528510.1073741826.475178502522121&type=3). Me and Mr.Foo r planning to so a MP manga-esque story arc featuring the original plot to the unmade TV Special.

Kid Lupin Jr. had a rant on Fb regarding differences between anime and cartoon. The results were spectacular, thus we decided to make a meme out of it.
NSFW since it has some coarse language in the text.

This pic was originally based on a little doodle I did while I was in my Psychology class one day. This image has been on my mind to draw for a while, but I kept messing up on Lupin for some odd reason. I wanted to practice on doing different styles from the Lupin manga, and I chose out my favorite manga style from Lupin III: New Adventures. This style was so surreal and cartoony I just had to draw it up. One of my fav chapters was chapter 91: King Of The Cave. That one was where Lupin (who's hair has grown longer to cover his whole entire face long with a beard bigger than Jigen's) gets locked up in a underground cave at the bottom of a prison for 3 years and he basically looses his mind while trying to find different and weird ways to try to escape like molding a gun out of his out poop, chewing his way out though the walls, etc.. In the chapter, Monkey Punch's style seemed to change into more strange, violent, cartoony and surreal along with his storytelling style and twists. I remembered that the dudles (the furball with feet on top of Goemon's head) were in the manga as well, and I thought up an idea about what if Lupin and the gang met these 4th wall breaking, panal-jumping furballs themselves.

LUPIN III 1960'S MONKEY PUNCH STYLED "PLAYING CARDS"

It really seems that no body really looks at the art here or posts here anymore. So, I'm gonna try to keep this tropic alive with some of my artworks. This is the first drawing I've made and posted on the web this year. I kinda messed up on the original piece with the teeth, but thank God I took a pic of it with my cell before I balled the real one up outta frustration.  >:( Igot the idea of this when I remembered the intro to Pursuit Of Harimo's Treasure and also a page from the original Lupin III first series manga of Lupin's wanted poster.

Anywho, I hope you guys like this. :) Next time, I might post cosplays of me as manga Lupin with a white fedora and wearing the classic attire from the mangas to a expo here in Alabama called Kami Con. I hope to get good pictures of the cosplay. :)

Technically, this official art, but I just found it unusual that Fujiko's dressed so conservatively (http://lupin-3rd.net/news/index.html#20140131lupimaga) for the cover of the latest Lupin Japanese magazine.

Update: There's a site (http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2014/03/28/the-line-it-is-drawn-183-western-re-designs-of-mangaanime-characters/) where people re-imagine anime/manga characters as done by Western comic book artists. And they got Lupin by way of Jack Kirby. [Not the real Kirby, of course.] Thanks to ANN for the tip.

I made this a couple of days a go, sorry the photo is a little blurred. It's a stencil with spray paints.

A couple of people who have seen it couldn't make out what it was, it seems obvious to me but then I am really use to the source material I used.

It ended up a little darker and enclosed than I first planned, so it looks like he is sneaking in the dark more than dashing now, but I am pleased with it.

I think the article is mistaken. This is not Monkey Punch's style at all. They are the product
of an animation studio most probably. The "animated" versions of the live-action cast are also
used for a trademark set of snack food.

Oh.

Update: I wouldn't call it 'fan art', but you can see a drawing of Fujiko on the official Lupin mag in Japan looking like she belongs on the set of Rose of Versailles (https://www.facebook.com/LupinNW/photos/a.316923838366285.74244.210626165662720/774527722605892/?type=1&theater).  If you look closely, you'll notice that it's because they cast real actors (or actresses, I guess) for a special Lupin-themed Takarazuka Revue. 8)

Update 2: Urusei Yatsura seiyuu Toshio Furukawa just uploaded a sketch featuring Lupin and Ataru (https://twitter.com/TOSHIO_FURUKAWA/status/531433728422060032).  8)

I used to draw all the time, but over the years that hobby declined. However recently I've taken it up again, on my iPad. I'm kind of re-teaching myself, so I'm doing a mixture of tracing and embellishing with my own touches. It's been a while since I drew some Lupin, but watching Jigen's Gravestone got me in the mood. Here are a few pictures from the iPad of one of my favorite subjects:

Fujiko with a gun. This one is a composite of a few different pictures from multiple sources, joined together and redrawn into a new image:
(click to show/hide)

Fujiko and an old acquaintance reunited:
(click to show/hide)
(On a side note, I've always felt that Return of Pycal was a bit of a disappointment. I'd love to see a new story involving the man they called a magician done in the Fujiko Mine/Jigen's Gravestone style...)

And lastly, it wouldn't be Fujiko if something wasn't NSFW. Except for the face and shoulder, which come from a frame of Fujiko Mine, this is pretty much all my work, and it's my favorite of the trio:

Here's the reference I used for that last one:

Anyway, just thought I'd share.

Thread, I command you to rise from your grave (and rescue my daughter).

I'd hoped to have this ready in time for CR's stream of the blue jacket series starting, but my original plan to do flat-colour on the character art didn't work out and I decided to paint it instead.

I dig it, man. Definitely glad you didn't go with the flat colors, since the mood created by the dim lighting is what really makes it (although I love the posing and expressions, too. They just radiate cocky confidence, despite likely being in danger, which suits their characters well).

About a month and a half ago, I decided to try my hand at drawing the gang in various expressions (I called them "character studies", is that the right phrase?) as a way to practice drawing faces in general as well as exploring their personalities a bit. It was a lot of fun, and I learned a little bit about the characters that I never did before, especially since I was trying to take inspiration from Monkey Punch (for example, did you know that in the manga, Zenigata often keeps the brim of his fedora over one eye? And that while the anime gives Goemon side bangs, MP has always drawn him with sideburns?)

Mmm, steamed hams.

Should be fixed now - my fault for hotlinking something on pixiv.

Excellent work! I hate memes but artistically speaking this is very impressive! ;)

I don't really have much experience with photoshop and whatnot but here are my attempts at getting clean images of the calling cards that are in the background of Part V's ending.

The first and second are stitched from the ending, the the last three are my attempts at cleaning the image up using vectors.

I drew a picture. It’s totally inappropriate and wrong at any time, and especially scrutinized in today’s climate, but it’s also a classic Lupin gag, so I did it anyway. Just know that I do not by any means condone this behavior in real life!

(Somewhat NSFW, though there’s no nudity or anything.)

Working on a picture of Lupin, and I decided to make it fully customizable. I created different layers for every jacket, shirt, and tie color to mix and match at will...!

Its interesting to see how little Jigen has changed over the years compared to Lupin and especially Fujiko!

So I have a personal Twitter account, but I decided to start a separate one specifically for following artists I like. Then I figured since I was using it for that purpose, I might as well tweet some of my own drawings while I was at it. So now if I'm working on something Lupin-related, I'll post the tweet here, too.

(Is it weird that we apparently can't embed tweets here? I see them embedded on other forums all the time.)

Drew a picture of my cartoon muse, Fujiko, yesterday. The background is “borrowed” from Part V; I didn’t draw it:

It’s kind of based on her Part IV character model, which is one of my favorites.
